Florence is one of my all-time favorite cities! Having lived there for four months during college (in 1999), it remains close to my heart and a shining memory. However, like all memories over time, they start to fade. So after my recent trip to Rome, I went back to Florence – to reignite that city spark.
Over just two days, I toured my favorite sites, revisited my old hangouts, dined on lots of Italian food – feeling all the warmth of city. The Tuscan sun, terracotta tiles, yellow walls and smiling faces seen throughout, proved Florence to be a glowing city, just as I had remembered.
Here’s a few lit pics of my weekend there:

Night 2 // dress: Whistles
WHERE I ATE
Day 1 Lunch // Trattoria Quattro Leoni came recommended by locales for fresh Tuscan fare. Near the Pitti Palace, it makes the perfect place to carb up before touring. In the same piazza is one of the best (and least commercial) gelaterias remaining in Florence.
Day 1 Dinner // Locale is new to the restaurant scene (est. 2015?), but located in an old Renaissance palace, furnished with all the fine interiors and food that the Medici’s would expect. And the bar is worth a pre-post dinner drink. If you are nice to the waiters, they will let you tour the basement – where ancient Roman architectural traces are found.
Day 2 Lunch // Osteria L’Antico Noè located in an alleyway, just behind The Lion’s Fountain pub, serves the perfect panini in a very casual and shaded setting.
Day 2 Dinner // Sabatini is a fine restaurant (est. 1914), famous for its spaghetti flambe. The decor is old world Italian and the food is belissimo!
WHERE I DRANK
Everyday // La Terrazza Continentale, a rooftop bar, on top of the chic Continentale Hotel, offering views of the Arno, Brunelleschi’s Dome, San Miniato, Palazzo Vecchio and Forte Belvedere. A great place for a spirtz cocktail.
