5 hours of driving. 4 Cadbury creme eggs. 3 cups of coffee. 2 bags of candy. 1 can of Pringles… And we were out of London! Over the Easter holiday weekend, my husband and I ventured north for some R&R in England’s famed Lake District. Renown for its plethora of lakes (duh!) and scenic pastoral setting, it is a walker’s paradise with trails through the woods, over hilltops, and around waterfalls – all leading to various pubs and foodie hot spots.
Unlike the usual spring breaks that demand bathing suits, short shorts and tank tops, my English holiday was a cold, wet, and windy one. So with that in mind, I wore my most waterproof clothes fit for walking. My grey Sweaty Betty parka (circa 2014) kept me completely dry, while traversing through country fields. And its hood shielded me from spotty bursts of hail that randomly reigned down. (Hail freaking hurts!) My turquoise Hunter wellies (although NOT proper hiking shoes) kept me moving confidently and comfortably through puddles, over streams, and down prepped forest pathways. And not for nothing… looked pretty damn cute in pictures.

However, the VIP of the trip was without a doubt my Sweaty Betty bumbag (AKA fanny pack), much to my husband’s chagrin. Synonomos with 80s soccer moms and flea market vendors, this little bag gives a girl the ultimate freedom to move. With its nylon outer shell and multiple zip-pockets, it held and protected all my day’s essentials (money, lipstick, tissues, and iPhone). Worn belted high on the waist, over my parka, this little grey waistpack allowed me to be hands-free, as I walked on through the wilderness.
