There are many theories on what makes a happy marriage. Communication. Compromise. His and her bathrooms. While all those are valid, for me it’s date night. All week long we work hard. We go to our respective offices, attend meetings, write reports, and present them to our bosses. Then we manage life, run errands, clean the house, pay taxes. All this, mixed with trips to the gym and sleep for the weary. That’s why I think spending time together, doing something fun (ideally out of the home) is so good for relationships. It restores balance to our busy lives and reverts us back to those early days of courtship when all was exciting and fresh.
So this past weekend my husband and I went on a date to the movies at the iconic Electric Cinema in Notting Hill. And just like old times, I planned my look accordingly. I wanted a outfit that was cute, but comfortable. So I opted for a classic J.Crew tweed blazer because girls with boyish flair always look cooler than sh*t and there’s nothing sexier than houndstooth and elbow patches, right? Worn over a lightweight t-shirt with a seasonal scarf, skinny jeans and black suede heeled boots, my style suited the cinema and an affair to remember.
