With sunny spring weather prevailing, there was no better place for my new Ash Virgins to lose their chastity then on the streets of London, walking through the city’s colourful Columbia Road Flower Market.
If you’ve read my blog before, you know that I prize comfortable clothes that are made for mobility. And while I’m not a true sneakerhead, I do love me some cool kicks. High heels are beautiful, but super cool sneakers always steal my heart. (And subsequently my money.)
Recently I retired a pair of worn and torn beige Ash Virgin trainers (FYI – that’s Brit talk for sneakers) to the trash. So in need of a new neutral sneaker, I stopped by the Italian in Britain shoe boutique for an upgrade. While tempted by the rose gold metallic and super bright blue pairs, it was their new season’s Marble Grey shade that drew me in with that soft grey tone with just a subtle hint of blue. Plus I love that no-lace look.
Now every Sunday, locals and tourists alike gravitate toward East London’s famed flower market on Columbia Road in search of fresh blooms. Having lived in London for over five years and having never been before, it was time for me to lose my market virtue – along with my new Virgin trainers. Walking among the floral spectacle and vendor queues, my sneakers withstood the crowds and kept me moving like a fair lady, leading me to Kensington’s newly opened The Ivy Brasserie – the perfect place to end a Sunday stroll, with my visiting mom (wearing the shiny black sliders below).

We do love shoes, trainers and flowers. No such thing as too much.
