Tucked away in the mountains, just outside Marrakesh, rests one of the the most perfect hotels in the world. With warm orange walls, a rose petal pool, and greenery galore, the Kasbah Tamadot is a vision of heaven. Centered around a turquoise pool overlooking the Atlas mountains, it is the perfect place to recharge after a few days in the busy medina.
Now anything stamped by Virgin’s seal is generally pretty damn good, but I was truly overwhelmed by this hotel’s palatial elegance. My room was a gem, literally radiating with sun light off the mosaic mirrored ceiling (that sounds pervy, but it wasn’t) and through the balcony doors. The grounds were lush and dotted with artful seating areas. The restaurants on premises were divine, with 360 degree views of the mountains, fine food and wine, and capes on-hand for chilly diners (i.e. me). And the staff were the ultimate angels.
Staying in the middle of the mountains provided convenient trekking paths along desert cliffs and through Berber villages – which I took advantage of. As well as a serendipitous stop to the local Berber Boutique, a treasure chest of Moroccan goodies, where I bought myself a crystal geode.
Here are a few photos of this Moroccan nirvana, but not without a little champagne – because it is paradise after all.
