This February I am thinking pink and centring my weekly posts around the theme of love, specifically self-love, because treating oneself well never goes out of style.
With roses on my mind (or maybe that’s rosé), I am currently obsessing over rose quartz. With its pale pinky hue, it’s a quieter stone than most. It doesn’t shine like diamonds or gleam like pearls. It possesses a softer tonality that whispers rather than shouts. This lends it to pair well with stark blacks to soft pastels. Complimenting every outfit, rose quartz is the ultimate Casanova of stones.
A couple birthdays ago my husband gave me this rose quartz pendant necklace from London jeweller didi. This rough-cut gem, set in rose vermeil with black stone accents, lovingly hangs from the neck, while murmuring sweet nothings to the ear. This season I’ve been wearing it everywhere – because sometimes a girl needs a little romancing.
In addition to it’s easy nature, rose quartz (like most crystals) is said to have magical properties. The Little Pocket Book Of Crystal Tips & Cures lists a few:
- carry a small crystal with you to promote love, romance and relationships
- put in your bath to soothe the skin and promote a youthful appearance
- place in your bedroom to balance your sex drive
- use the energy to soothe and calm yourself
