Sometimes a girl’s gotta go with the waves, especially when her original travel plans go wayside. En route to London after my Spanish escapade (details on that trip here) my plans carved to the right, away from the airport, due to forces beyond my control. Instead of freaking out, I embraced an impromptu adventure in Biarritz, France.
Lo siento, I just woke up from a 12 month blogging siesta. It’s been a busy year with my budding meditation business (more on Mind House here) and my ever-evolving personal life. But my travel game has still been going strong – all year long!
In August 2017 (yes, I am that delayed in posting), I ventured to Spain to spend a week in the late summer sun, with only a little rain (that fell mainly on the beach). I started my tour in Madrid, the elegant capital city. Then, I moved on to San Sebastian for a coastal retreat.

Los Angeles represents many things to many people – beautiful beaches, posh zip codes, and most recently (post Oscar season)… it’s the city for big dreams. But it was its finely tuned wellness scene that drew me to it. Every summer I venture homeward to one of my favorite coastal haunts – New York’s iconic Hamptons. With its pebbly beaches and shiny blue bay, it’s an idyllic retreat from the city. This year was no exception as I headed to eastern Long Island for a little R&R.
While my primary vacation goal is always relaxing on the beach with a cold beer in hand, it’s never without a little healthy dose of fitness. I don’t feel right if I don’t stretch and move my body, most recently into a series of yogic inversions from headstand to handstand. Turning myself upside down is as inebriating as alcohol, only much better for your belly. It strengthens your core muscles and improves digestion.
However, dressing for inversions is risky business. I want style and comfort, without the fear of a wardrobe malfunction. So this trip I recruited some tried and true beach sport favorites: a navy polka dot bikini top with adjustable ties at the neck and back and a pair of blue patterned athletic shorts with full coverage.
