Halloween is a day famous for many things: scary movies, costumes, candy, and spooky Simpson episodes. And while I love all those things, Halloween is extra special to me because on this day, six years ago, I wore the grandest costume of my life, a big white satin ballgown, for my wedding. With its strapless sweetheart neckline, rhinestone appliqués, and layers of satin and crinoline, my bridal look was timeless. [Read more…] about [LONDON] HANDS UP FOR HALLOWEEN
[LONDON] GREY REIGNS
This autumn marks my fifth year living in London. And while I’ve noticed many changes in myself over the past few years (like using the word “quite” and eating baked beans with my eggs), I recently realized how much my daily fashion has assimilated to my city’s surroundings too – I wear more grey than ever before. London’s cloudy skies and cobblestone pavements have infiltrated my mind, turning a once-thought boring shade into a romantic neutral color, that works anytime, anywhere. From my vest to my jeans to my nails, grey reigns supreme for mixing into any #ootd. [Read more…] about [LONDON] GREY REIGNS
[BERLIN] MAD COCKTAILS
Art is a way of life in Berlin, from its streets to its cocktails. On my recent trip there, I wanted a fun night out on the town. While the club scene is prevalent, I’m well into my 30s and my raving days ended in the 90s. However, I still enjoy a colorful drink when on holiday.
Zyankali Bar serves up just that – bold inventive cocktails, using obscure alcohols and flavors. The bartenders, in their lab/bar, mix, blend, shake and stir like mad scientists, serving up drinks in beaker glasses with artful ice cubes. [Read more…] about [BERLIN] MAD COCKTAILS
[BERLIN] TO THE WALL
As a blogger I am always location scouting for cool and interesting backdrops for my future fashion posts. From pretty coloured townhouses to industrial garage doors, no background is out of bounds. On my recent trip to Berlin, it didn’t take me long before I discovered probably the coolest stretch of background a blogger could find. Extending 12 feet high, and once almost 100 miles long, and ranging in colors from muted beige to bright and metallic graffiti – the Berlin Wall was to be the perfect background for an #OOTD. [BERLIN] GOING GREEN IN GERMANY
I am a very annoying eater. Not only am I very fussy about having fresh food, I am also a vegetarian. This is a personal choice that I made four years ago, and while I make no judgements of carnivores, for me a veggie lifestyle works best. Except sometimes when I’m traveling, and it would be so much easier to just eat everything! When dining out I’m often limited to the one “V” option on menus, which is usually a risotto. And while I love a hearty, cheesy rice dish as much as they next person, I also like variety and healthier options.
Recently I travelled to Berlin, Germany, a country famous for its wursts. With this reputation I guessed that I would be eating pretzels for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And while I did eat a lot of pretzels (hey, when in Germany), I also managed to find a great café that serves not only vegetarian dishes, but also some vegan options. [HAMPTON BAYS] BEACH SPORT BLUES
My Style On The Lamb: Hampton Bays Beach, NY
Every summer I venture homeward to one of my favorite coastal haunts – New York’s iconic Hamptons. With its pebbly beaches and shiny blue bay, it’s an idyllic retreat from the city. This year was no exception as I headed to eastern Long Island for a little R&R.
While my primary vacation goal is always relaxing on the beach with a cold beer in hand, it’s never without a little healthy dose of fitness. I don’t feel right if I don’t stretch and move my body, most recently into a series of yogic inversions from headstand to handstand. Turning myself upside down is as inebriating as alcohol, only much better for your belly. It strengthens your core muscles and improves digestion.
However, dressing for inversions is risky business. I want style and comfort, without the fear of a wardrobe malfunction. So this trip I recruited some tried and true beach sport favorites: a navy polka dot bikini top with adjustable ties at the neck and back and a pair of blue patterned athletic shorts with full coverage. Behold east coast prep meets beach sport chic. [Read more…] about [HAMPTON BAYS] BEACH SPORT BLUES
